Zuz in Pure (.999) Silver

Zuz With Pitcher and Pallm Branch and Wreath   Bar Kochva Zuz Reproduction

This museum quality, hand minted reproduction of the Bar Kochva zuz is stunning. The hand cut dies were made with hand made tools, made the same way as the die cutting tools in ancient times. It is made from one eighth ounce of .999 silver. They are approximately 18 millimeters in diameter. Originals of these coins cost hundreds of dollars. These can be used for gifts, or as a reminder of the great men who gave their lives for G-d.

The original coins were made between the years 130-135 c.e. when the Jews rebelled against Rome in order to free the Jewish people, rebuild the Holy Temple, and reestablish the service of G-d.

The zuz is made famous in the last song of the Pesach Hagaddah (Passover Service and Festive Meal) which talks about the "goat (for the Paschal sacrifice) which my father bought for two zuzim".

On the obverse (right image) is a Pitcher, perhaps used for the Nesachim (Libations on the Holy Altar) and a Lulav (palm branch) used on the Feast of Tabernacles (Vayikra/ Leviticus 23:40). On the reverse (left image) is a wreath. Numismatists suggest that the wreath is either myrtle leaves used on the Feast of Tabernacles (Vayikra/ Leviticus 23:40) or olive leaves, one of the fruits for which the Land of Israel is praised (Devarim/Deuteronomy 8:8).

All of the Bar Kochva coins depict items related to the Holy Temple, fruits of the Holy Land or other aspects of the worship of G-d.

Note that each coin blank is made by hand, and each coin is struck by hand. The shape may be irregular, and each coin is unique, just like the original ancient coins.

Even though the price of silver is up, we have not raised our price. $12.50 plus $5 for shipping and handling.
